Château La Gaffelière er en ca. 20 ha stor Saint-Èmillion-ejendom, som er klassificeret som en Premiers Grands Crus Classés B. Et historisk vinslot, der har været i ejerskab af familien Comte de Malet-Roquefort siden starten af 1400-tallet.

Markerne tæller blandt andet en kalkstensrig parcel, der grænser op til det berømte Château Ausone samt en større parcel lige over for Château Pavie.

Med ansættelsen af vinkonsulenten Stéphane Derenoncourt og slottets efterfølgende renovering har Château La Gaffelière virkelig vokset sig op i superligaen. Grundet vinens relativt høje andel af Cabernet Franc udtrykker La Gaffelière typisk en ret finesserig stil i forhold til andre St. Èmillion-ejendomme. 

Al høst foregår i dag ved håndkraft. Vinen vinificeres først under temperaturkontrollerede forhold på stål, hvorefter den malolaktiske gæring sker på eg. Vinen lagrer slutteligt 18-20 måneder på 70-80% nye fade, startende med 12 måneder på kvaset.

This is really decadent and rich with great aromas of earth, spice, frost flowers and fresh mushrooms that follow through to a full body, firm and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very, very serious from here. A blend of 70 per cent merlot and 30 per cent cabernet franc. Try after 2025.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 La Gaffeliere opens with compelling wild blueberries, freshly crushed plums and kirsch scents plus hints of garrigue, underbrush, rose hip tea and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is wonderfully elegant with a soft, velvety texture and seamless freshness carrying the multilayered fruit to a long finish.
