Med Stéphane Ogiers Côte Rôtie, Sélection de Lieux-Dits (2016) kan du komme på en helt særlig og "sjælden" rejse rundt i Côte Rôties unikke terroir.

Siden 1997 har Stéphane Ogier minutiøst opbygget sin portefølje af vinmarker i Côte-Rôtie, og i dag arbejder han med over 20 lieux-dits fordelt på 35 parceller, der spænder over samtlige jordbundstyper i appellationen. 

For nylig begyndte Ogier først at frigive disse Lieux-Dits, når han mener, man bør begynde at drikke top-Côte-Rôtie, hvorfor de nu først frigives 10 år efter høståret. 

Denne kasse indeholder derfor 6 forskellige af domænets topvine fra den fantastiske årgang 2016; Fongeant, Côte-Bodin, Bertholon, Montmain, La Viallière & Le Champon.

Domaine Stéphane Ogier hører utvivlsomt til blandt Rhône-dalens mest kompromisløse og terroirfokuserede vinhuse. Familien har haft rødder i området i hele 7 generationer, men det er især efter Stéphane Ogiers overtagelse omkring årtusindeskiftet, at ejendommen har taget springet til absolut verdensklasse. I dag regnes Ogier blandt områdets (og klodens) absolutte elite, hvilket de mange 100-pointsscorer hos internationale anmeldere også bevidner.

I marken arbejdes der efter en udpræget ”low-intervention”-filosofi med stor respekt for biodiversiteten. Vinifikationen er klassisk, men minutiøs: druerne sorteres i hånden, gæringen sker spontant - ofte med helklasegæring. Macerationen er typisk lang, men altid styret efter finesse frem for rå kraft. Lagringen foregår primært på franske fade af højeste kvalitet, hvor man i dag næsten udelukkende benytter brugte fade.

As I’ve said in the past, there are few things more enlightening and educational than tasting through these single lieux-dits. There aren’t many of these sets out there, so I’ll keep these notes brief, but certainly don’t miss a chance to try these. Starting out, the 2016 Côte Rôtie Fongeant comes from a cooler site next to the Côte Brune. It’s a very floral, elegant Côte Rôtie that has terrific purity as well as a seamless texture. It’s one of those wines that just glides over the palate."

Côte-Rôtie Côte-Bodin 2016
"The 2016 Côte Rôtie Côte Bodin is from a warmer site and has medium-bodied, soft, sumptuous notes of red fruits, dried meats, and spice, with just a hint of rose petal with time in the glass. It’s already hard to resist yet is impeccably balanced."

Côte-Rôtie Bertholon 2016
"More violets, flowers, black and blue fruits, and exotic tropical notes emerge from the 2016 Côte Rôtie Bertholon, which comes from a higher elevation site on the Côte Brune side of the appellation. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and elegant, it’s come together beautifully since I tasted it from barrel and has remarkable elegance. Drink it over the coming two decades."

Côte-Rôtie Montmain 2016
"One of the standouts in the single vineyard case is the 2016 Côte Rôtie Montmain. This rocking effort is never destemmed and always has serious old school charm. Peppered meats, tapenade, spice, and assorted red and black fruits emerge from this concentrated, layered, yet perfectly balanced 2016 that has some youthful charm but needs 3-5 years of bottle age."

Côte-Rôtie La Viallière 2016
"Lastly, the 2016 Côte Rôtie La Vialliere comes from a gem of a site located in the northern part of the appellation. It’s a balanced, complete Côte Rôtie that offers a complex bouquet (red and black fruits, spice, spring flowers, and game), medium to full body, terrific purity of fruit, and a seamless, elegant texture that just glides across the palate. It needs 2-4 years of bottle age but will keep for two decades."

"I also loved the 2016 Côte Rôtie Le Champon. It has a distinct, cooler vibe in its blue fruit and cassis notes as well as ample cracked pepper and exotic spice-driven aromas. With medium to full body, beautiful purity, and ultra-fine tannins, give it a few years."
